Community Involvement

McLean Insurance agency believes it is a critical part of our mission and vision for the business that we get involved in the community that we serve. Here is a just a partial list of the community organizations that we participate in and/or support:

Community Highlight

McLean Rotary

"Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

"There are over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary's main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world" (rotary.org).

McLean Insurance Agency President & CEO Doug Megill is an active member of the Rotary Club of McLean. He recently received the Club's Paul Harris Benefactor Award (pictured, right). The Award is given to members who commit $1,000 per year to the Club. To lean more, visit McLean Rotary or Rotary International.

Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance

[Logo] During the past year, the Alliance has been instrumental in building support for widening I-66 inside the Beltway, re-constructing the Gainesville interchange, adding a fourth I-95 lane south of Newington, and constructing Maryland's Intercounty Connector. The long-planned Tri-County Parkway remains alive as a direct result of the Alliance's efforts. McLean Insurance Agency is proud to support the efforts of the NVTA through financial contributions. WAKE UP!

Our region is a national leader in public transit, carpooling/HOV, teleworking, express/commuter bus, traffic signalization and virtually every other "alternative transportation strategy."

Yet, the latest Texas Transportation Institute Urban Mobility Report confirms our congestion continues to increase. The region is now the nation's second most gridlocked.

Today, most area residents spend more of their lives mired in traffic because [elected officials] continue to fail to build the highway and bridge network planned decades ago to meet today's mobility demand.

The solutions are well known. Their benefits are well-documented. They include:

  • Northern Potomac River Crossing — linking Virginia's Dulles and Maryland's I-270 technology corridors
  • Eastern and Western Regional Bypass Parkways — linking outer jurisdictions and removing long-distance autos/trucks from local roads
  • Tri-County Parkway — Comprehensive Plan alignment provides Route 28 relief and connects second and third most populous jurisdictions
  • Widening I-66 inside and outside the Beltway — Currently, carries more traffic than Dulles Corridor - even with rail.
  • Fairfax County Parkway Grade Separated Interchanges — Replace traffic signals to reduce congestion, improve travel speeds.

Our region has added 2 million people in the last three decades. It will add another 2 million in the next three.

Big, Serious Problems Require Big, Serious Solutions, not "alternatives."
